BIO

A bit of acting,  a bit of writing, some TV, and always making music. Having a great time working on meaningful stuff with talented people.

I began writing songs in New York just before the turn of the century as a means of processing difficult emotions.  It has  supported me through both good and bad times ever since

Collaborations with other musicians, including Rachel Makena, Viveen, Amy Naylor, Dan Wesley and Snake Davies has produced some of my best music so far, but I am now focused on writing, performing and producing my own music

My musical inspiration is diverse and eclectic, but my current music is probably best described as melodic Americana with influences of folk, country, rock, and blues. My heroes are legion, but Bob Dylan, Bert Jansch, Dougie Maclean, Mary Chapin Carpenter, Leonard Cohen, Mark Knopfler and Chris Rea lead the charge.

I have always tried to make music with meaning and purpose: Bottle in my Hand explored addiction, The Hungry Tide explored the life of seafarers and the women they left behind.  This new single marks a turning point in my music, telling human stories in real or imaginary worlds that blend joy, tragedy, despair and hope in a blend of realism, mysticism, folktale and legend.

My music is sometimes used as soundtracks for films and soundscapes, and projects with literary themes.
